I do not quickly accept the definitions of certain metaphysical terms. I search within to check whether I agree with the words and explanations used. If I do not agree with what I hear, I redefine for myself.
It occurred to me that perhaps what we call soul and spirit are not separate entities. Perhaps they are expressions of energy and consciousness that are intertwined within living beings. The soul may have records within itself of the imprint of identity and consciousness of the living being where it dwells. It can recall past lives, connect to the Akashic records, create and destroy soul contracts with other living beings and events etc. So, then the spirit is specific to the living being for this lifetime and has its imprint of identity and is contained within the breath that circulates through the body, oxygenating the blood, giving life to the cells that make up this particular incarnation's body and so on. When a being dies and the breath takes its final exit from the lungs, that is the extinguishment of that particular incarnate spirit being. However, both the spirit and the soul are eternal, since that spirit breath and imprint of identity for one incarnation is still recorded into the consciousness of the soul. The soul has a longer, more complicated memory. It contains memories of imprints and identities that stretch back to a certain beginning or initial birth.
