And then forget

I don’t want to think of my life in terms of numbers

height, weight, age
I will remember the night air
The smoke of the sage
The feeling just after
The sun sets
And how the moon
Comes into view

All of that is beyond numbers Beyond calculations and Measurements All of that is unique In the moment No two raindrops No two snowflakes Are the same So why assign numbers To the everchanging events unfolding Without pausing To be monitored And assessed while They are all still moving
I don’t want to live my life in terms of numbers.
I’d rather use the alphabet and then let myself forget.
